Gameboy Guitar Effect

PWM2

Schematics and audio clip here – sounds pretty good

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

This is a weird effect but quite useful especially if you like alot of synth work as you’ll be able to hear from the audio clip it makes your guitar sound kind of like a stylophone or an old gameboy anyway if you want the stripboard laytout let me know cause i’ll have to copy it from my pencilled notes.

  • Nice one! I would have liked to hear more PWM in the demo, tho. This is basically what animal style uses. It’s based on the 40106, a great chip to play with- it’s great for making all kinds of crazy square waves. It looks like he’s not even using all the outputs on that chip (there are 6), so you could add some extra oscillators if you wanted, just by adding a cap and pot for each osc. There is an fx pedal called the “pulse monger” that takes this same circuit, but adds lfo, etc. Envelope following would be a nice addition too.

  • nice! i’ll have to build one of these! must have all options~!~!
