    HEY NINTENDO!

    Thanks for :

    • Continuing to be associated with kitschy mario jump sounds.
    • By ignoring all the cool stuff being done without your help (homebrew) and with it (ds-10) and focusing on gimmicky things that no one will use after owning the DSi for more than 18 seconds.
    • For making me learn who Jamie Liddel is.

That being said I do appreciate the cat sounds.

  • DuckSlinger Appeared!

screenshotDuckSlinger is a new Tracker for the Nintendo DS that was announced at BlockParty. The interface looks a bit spartan, but the website has demos from Coda and Virt, so you already have no shot at being the best composer for it.

EDIT:  Forgot to mention this appears to be a PSG based tracker. This means you use the Internal DS sounds instead of samples to create your sounds!

  • Murderous Moppet – Silreq

moppetfrntcover-mSick c64 sid release by SILENT REQUIEM. Claustrophobic and snaky basslines, and smooth filter usage mixes pleasure and pain for another enjoyable release from the label which shall not be named.

    “They” write:

With the mysterious death of a Datasette tape drive, along with it’s tape, all had been lost. This left a growing very bitter taste with Maestro. In desperate attempt to find those responsible for such horrendous acts, he sets out, undercover in disguise (now known as the “Murderous Moppet”, as dubbed by the local the papers), in search of clues and answers; all while wreaking havoc to those who had opposed and done him wrong. With only a knife and a C64 in hand, all is archived as to relive revenge over and over again…. only this way, could he truly be at peace, after the loss of his precious data-tape.

  • FPGA Arcade Board

    6a00d83452989a69e2011570212c35970b-800wiVia

MikeJ says, “The board will support all the games on the FPGA Arcade site, as well as my Atari ST core and a customized and supported MiniMig Amiga core. Other platforms such as BBC B, Commodore 64 and Spectrum will also follow shortly.

The board has an ARM processor which interfaces the FPGA to the SD card. Hard disk images, ROMs and floppy disk images can be used from the SD card. There are two expansion boards, one with TV out and some rear mounted connectors for the joysticks (fits in a mini-itx case), and a second board with a prototyping array. There are around 130 pins available on the expansion connector.

The board has DVI and Analogue out. The DVI connector can be used to drive a HDMI input of a flat screen TV, so you can play PacMan on the big screen. I am planning to do Asteroids in true 1080P :) The analogue audio output uses a very high quality Wolfson DAC.”
