Mixed Atari 2600 MIDI Sample Playback

little-scale’s done it again by being crafty as hell to upgrade the capability of his MIDI interfaces; this time for the Atari 2600.  We showed you before that the Atari 2600 was capable of 8-bit PCM earlier via TROGdor.  He’s taken this technology and melded it into his MIDI interface.

I wonder if he’s also added the capability to speed up or slow down the playrate of the samples yet. ;D

Exec(‘Coward’) – The Sinistar Sinicore Sample Comp

“Exec(‘Coward’) – The Sinistar Sinicore Sample Comp!

  1. Sissy Creeper – Flashbob
  2. Sinistartled – Chip Champion
  3. The Headache – eLectrodreams
  4. Therefore We are Always Confident – we the sick
  5. Alexis Berlin – Edward Shallow
  6. Mr. Functional – little-scale

This comp was done over the course of one month using only samples ripped from the cult-classic arcade game, Sinistar.

This sample pack, ripped by Beware, includes 21 samples of lasers, explosions, sound FX and those vocals samples that can still strike fear into the hearts of anyone who played the game as a child. Each participant was allowed to splice, stretch, speed up, slow down, pitch, etc, etc, etc the samples into whatever they wanted, but these samples, and ONLY these samples, have been used.

Lil’ Bits!

Tiny Cartridge has news of the US release of PictoBit: The second-best DSiWare game, Art Style: PiCOPiCT (right under Art Style: Hacolife), is finally available in North America as PiCTOBiTS. It is imperative that you purchase this addictive puzzler, if nothing more than for its YMCK remixes of classic NES/Famicom songs:

“Super Mario Bros. Part 5” by YMCK
“Super Mario Bros. Part 4” by YMCK
PiCOPiCT’s “Ending” (Credits) song by YMCK

Make sure to read my PiCOPiCT review, too.

And a positive review of Reformat the Planet. In other bits:

    • Neil Baldwin has updated his Duty Cycle Generator blog, this time with background and audio of the game Ferrari Grand Prix.
    • Little-Scale has provided a new “Chip Tune Music Uploader” the idea is to avoid ugly media fire or similar download sites.  But seriously kids, get a website!
    • Finally, VORC has upped a new demo video of 8-Bit Prophet

    Run!

    folderlittle-scale writes:

Run – Music for the Long Distance Jogger is a compilation of 12 tracks by 12 artists at a speed of 145 BPM. The thing I love about this comp is that each track blends and is mixed well into the next track – cheers to nonfinite for making this flow so well, for organising the comp and for hosting the comp for now. My track on here is ‘The Merchant’, but the mix is slightly different than the one found on my release ‘Error Repeat‘.

A great idea (I was thinking of a aerobics comp myself back in the netlabel days..), with tracks by little-scale, tristendo, ZZZV and more… good stuff!
