This is great, I have been messing with gt but have not been able to control my efforts really I will read this and see about getting serious.
Definitely reading this! I’ve been wanting to be able to use goattracker better for a while.
oh wow – a good job done here tho i might not feel as cool referencing this instead of the C64 Programmer’s Guide :D
learnded GT in an afternoon. happy now. c64 no longer baffles the fuck out of me! yayayay!
and i updated the 8bc wiki
THIS IS A MUST MUST MUST MUST READ!!!! I can now say I feel that the SID is my bitch.
Can GT be used to allow for microtonal pitch? I want to use a tracker for Just Intonation and alternate divisions of the octave. Could it be done without a redesign of the program?
are there any other tutorials that explain goat tracker in more common terms? this one is ok but its not written for people who dont understand maths and computers. its hard for me to understand
Dan, sadly there is no non-technical way of SID tracking.
I guess a video tutorial would be more friendly for understanding the interface, but there is no easy way of understanding the function, as basically you have to know how SID and its registers work.
And there’s this, if you can read Italian:
http://ready64.it/articoli/leggi/idart/67/scrivere-musica-per-il-commodore-64-con-goattracker
Dan you might want to look at other ways at getting sid sounds than tracking as most will be as difficult I suspect.
