Petter Lindquist a.k.a. Hevosenliha of MuMu21 has made a great tool for us lovers of pure, unadultered SID sound, but who also love the convenience of today’s hardware.
Using an IDE64 interface (or a home made cable that, allegedly, costs 10 euros to build), a server-type tool on a C64/128 and a modified version of Goattracker, USB64 Sidslave lets you make tracks in GT but have the sound played out in real hardware!
So far running only on Linux, a Windows patch has been sent to Cadaver, creator of GoatTracker, to see if this can be implemented in Windows too (and I bet Mac OS X would work as well)
Here’s looking forward for new improvements on this cheap Hardsid-alternative. VICE support anyone?
Check out the video of this in action:

wheres mah vst???
This is not a player for GT tunes. This is an audio device for GoatTracker. No need for conversion/export/replay/etc., you can DIRECTLY HEAR WHAT YOU ARE DOING, WHILE YOU ARE DOING IT
Man. You can already play goattracker songs on real hardware. you can export as .sid files.. and use psid to convert them. But this is cool too! i hope they patch the stereo version.
nothing new here, i can dual sid with the hardsid 4u..stereo sid..
Well considering the hardsid costs hundreds of dollars, and this around $10, its considerably noteworthy, Mr. Anonymous Coward.
But the goatracker feature of hardsid is indeed quite rad, if you have the money.
