  • Yatagarasu – Lobster Mage + Interview.

mageNSF Tech Grindster Yatagarasu has a extremely in-depth itnerview on  the No Funeral Blog. In it he talks about his methodology behind his works, including the following nugget:

No Funeral: What role did video games play in the development of the band?

Chris Yatagarasu: I have this fascination with the old NES and Commodore programmers. The idea of creating something people want to spend time with using only 32 kb of memory, it fills me with awe and joy. That’s what I want to do – to make something interesting out of very little. In this case, it’s a stack of obsolete, consumer electronics. Trash to some, but refashioned to do something new. Also I still get totally inspired by game music – namely that by Tim Folin, Martin Galway, Ramiro Vaco, Genesis games and Konami NES stuff.

Also the inteview gives a link for his newest release “Lobster Mage“. You can get more info on his myspace, and check him out on his East Coast U.S Tour.

  • LISSAJOU – TSY MISY

Lissajou’s new release is available for order via his Myspace. Expect more of the madcap retro futro cyberphunk nanoloop styles from his earlier cd’s but this time with a few suprises. He writes:

IN ADDITION, REMIXES BY THE FOLLOWING RAVE PROFESSIONALS CAN BE FOUND THEREUPON ALSO:

    ODDKNOCK
    KEEP BULLFIGHTING
    EPILEPTIC FIT
    C-C

Grab it quick, before the dystopian future kicks in, and he can only accept credsticks for stuff like this.

  • Eat Rabbit – Kiss The Dolphin

dhr-10_thumb-newKiss the Dolphin is the third album of the Lyon-based Eat Rabbit; atypical one, cut into fourteen tracks that finally merge into one unique sound piece. A mish-mash of beats and rythmic madness, lined up with humor and brilliance by a mad rabbit determined to boost our auditive adrenalin.

The album cover is silkscreened and paw-made in a limited numbered edition by the rabbit himself, in different versions, including a phosphorescent one !

  • Claps and Leads by Mr. Spastic

8bp096One of my favorites in the whole “MIDIFY Chip sounds but make the kind of music I want to anyways”  zone of the chip music scene, Mr. Spastic is extremely underrated and hopefully this is the release to get him on the map.  Having had one of the best Blip ’09 sets, he is sure to be killing it at this weekend’s  Dutycyle II show.  With its killer pixel art from UI, this may be hands down one of my favorite e-ep’s so far of 09.

This is non-optional download. GRAB IT NOW.

“Claps and Leads” marks Mr. Spastic’s triumphant return to the 8bitpeoples catalogue; five deft exercises in virtuoso programming, balancing intricate technical skill with a warmly organic sound, all delivered in his signature bold-yet-delicate tech-soul style. Jazz, deep funk, disco, R&B, and full-on techno inflections collide and merge into an astonishing stylistic cocktail, all topped off with a shimmering pro-grade production sensibility. Dazzling artwork by Ui completes the package, sealing the deal on a certain future classic.

  • Eat Fuck – Joss

eatfuckMore fucked up noisy horribly horrible music from Josstin T, or Joss as he’s known to his chums. If you liked Amiga Noize Rave EP 2, chances are you’re gonna love Eat Fuck! And what a charming name for an album!
