  • VGM Music Maker appeared

I was hoping for a website, but this will have to do:

    v1.01 23.06.11

+ MIDI support is improved, now the editor works with MIDI USB keyboards
    * Wrong file extension has been added to the instrument name on the instrument save
    * *.vge instruments were not displayed in the open instrument dialog
    * Changing instrument number through MIDI marked all the selected instruments
    * PSG mute has not been initialized at start up, probably the reason why PSG sound was absent sometimes
    * Group loading for samples has not worked properly
    * Right mouse button has not worked properly for PSG instruments when used with on-screen keyboard
    * VGM output is optimized, now files are smaller and works better with VGM players for actual Genesis/Mega Drive consoles
    * FM polyphony in the instrument editor is increased to six channels
    – DLL dependency with MSVC 2008 Redistributable is removed

  • Vandalism News #56

Legendary C64 diskmag VANDALISM NEWS gets the mandatory yearly release with a lot of inside information about the C64 demoscene and also a load of tunes by awesome artists like Johannes Bjerregaard, ne7 and Conrad, as well as graphics by Mermaid and Joe, two of my favourite pixel artists.

  • Internal Stereo SID board appeared

This is a compact, feature-filled dual-SID board, designed to provide a proper way to mount a second SID inside your C64 or C128 without resorting to the old piggyback hack. Variations available to fit most C64 and C128 computers. Second SID can be placed at any 32-byte boundary from $DE00 to $DFE0, and it works in the $D420-$D4E0 range also. C128/C128-D users can also use $D700-$D7E0. Easy no-solder installation – just move your computer’s SID chip onto the Stereo SID board, plug it into the motherboard SID socket, and connect a few micro-hook clips. Get yours today!

There are also some interesting pre-orders, including a external cartridge sid add-on, a sampler module, and a four channel audio player dealie.

  • Facteur – America (DATA016)

Facteur, – a Marseilles-based electronic music producer who has been with Data Airlines since almost the beginning, has been touring and collaborating with Dubmood a lot over the years and has recently been very active with rock group Nasser, dubbed a French Soulwax- is back with a new opus.

A calmer and more minimalistic approach to the facteur-music we are used to, he takes us on a voyage through hinterland America in an orgies in simple rhythms and analogue synth-porn and Dubmood joins in on the two last tracks with a fitting Commodore 64 on Jacksonville and a complete Atari ST remix of Palm Desert wich flirts with late 80s cracktro music. Cover-art by Erik Jonsson at Elapse.se.

  • Toytone (Patric Catani) – Padsounds

Fresh out of the oven! A new production by Patric Catani, completely made in LGPT running on a GP2X.

The first officially released tracks of the Toytone project come as bassy as they wanna be. Varying between Club, Booty Bounce and an exaggerated approach of speed acid dub, you will notice that this collection was not done overnight.
