  • JITT64 v1.02 released

screenshotSo I hear you want to make SID music?

You don’t have or don’t want to have or use the real hardware? OK, cross-development is logical nowadays and perhaps you do not want to mess with the issues that Goattracker has on other platforms but Windows, or with emulation issues.

Here’s a little treat for you: JITT64, short for Java Ice Team Tracker 64, is a Commodore 64 SID tracker that runs under Java, making it platform independent.

The instruments are totally based onto tables for full control of sound generation, like a good C64 tracker should be, so rest assured you can get to decent results on this one. Not sure about the performance of the playroutine, but I am pretty positive if you are reading this here you won’t care much about that :P

The official page of JITT64 is where you can get the latest version.

  • DigiBooster Professional 3 status report 05/2009

album_picphpSome of you (few :P) may remember my post about this new up and coming tracker for the Amiga back in January. If not, check it out.

After being rejected for a beta tester position (damned jerks!), I rely on public announcements to keep you updated, so I’m sorry if you have read this somewhere already. To be honest, the company developing it, APC&TCP, have proved to be major asshats to the Amiga community throughout these years so I wouldn’t be surprised they do something not nice with this software. It’ll be my utmost pleasaure to pirate them :P

Anyway, I am also NOT fond of the generic Intuition/OS3 look of the software, something which was a pet peeve of mine in MusicLine, but that aside, the tracker seems to be packed with features as I mentioned in my previous article.

  • High Voltage SID Collection Update #50!

    hvsc1Great news, SID music fans!
Our favourite collection, the HVSC, is back with its fiftieth update! Quite a landmark.

For years this dedicated group of SID music historians have gathered, fixed and adventured to get all the C64 music ever made, for our enjoyment. Some of the highlights of this release?  Around 678 new SIDs, 59 fixed/better rips, 573 PlaySID/Sidplay1 specific SIDs eliminated and more, catering for a grand total of 36,000 SID files (each of which could include more than one song. yay!!).

The emphasis as I said is in getting ALL of it so the output is usually of mixed qualities, but you can rest assured there’s a lot of cool NEW music to hear, without the pain of crawling through pages of garbage and uncontrolled P commands on LSDJ.

Are you new to the HVSC? I recommend you give a listen to the folders of the following artists: Fanta, Ed, Linus, Randall, Drax, Jeroen Tel and Thomas Danko, to name but a VERY FEW of what’s available.

The rest of the official release information follows:

  • Breakpoint 2009 wrap-up Part One

    77735Yeah this took me ages…

Sorry, I am very busy with my real life and cannot commit to post as much as I used to.

But I still guess a lot of the releases on Breakpoint have passed by most people’s noses so here’s a sum up of what I thought was most interesting, on the oldschool/wild categories. Even a month after Breakpoint has ended, you could find a few gems here to enjoy . Hey, it beats reading about a retarded pussy who takes pride in the fact his bicolour hair covers all his face and that he just painted his Gameboy in 32 colours.

So find contained herein a bunch of videos and babble from yours truly!
Part one covers the DEMOS only. part 2 will cover Music and Graphics

  • Jeri Ellsworth does it again: Analog audio recorded on a floppy

    Pretty smoking news, these…

Jeri Ellsworth, woman behind the C-One reconfigurable computer and the Commodore 64 DTV, among many other brilliant things, has developed a way to record analog audio to 3 1/2″ floppy disks.

I was pretty amazed at the results, which you can check on the following video:

I want to see Burnkit 2600 using one of these :)
