  • Why aren’t there more things like these?

    discoVia Syphus:

    EDIT from comments: I’m making it in Processing, and will eventually be a Windows/Linux/Mac executable AND a web-based Java applet.

    I might tidy it up and cobble together a Processing library so that other people can use the IBXM replayer system (by Martin Cameron) in their Processing sketches.

    This will be my principle means of releasing mod/xm musicdisks in the future, with the possibility of releasing web-based versions of old Amiga/etc musicdisks. For the native executables, I may see about building in a ‘render to mp3? function, so I can distribute small disks from which people can build large mp3-player-friendly albums.

    I’ve been asking for similar DJ type players for other chips for years.. especially for my Hardsid!

  • New Starscream Preview

    297c43c47c004e3061b35c5450ec11f9dfff6d21_normalNYC Area chipkidz Starscream have posted a preview track “Future, And It Doesn’t Work” EP, which is coming out in May on 8BP.  It won’t do anything to dissuade the purists conception of new york as festoon with blippy gameboy dance music, but it sounds great with expert production from Gabe Liberti, the engineer behind the wonderful sounding blip ’08 recordings.

    Now we wait.

The label of France produced the first demo song, one of the pioneers of Japanese overseas for his release, and online competition “Famicompo mini” hosted by “K->” from the Self Control (K-> Remix) , to ensure the sound quality NES, leading to strong acoustic chiptune simulate the acoustic sound and electronic sound environment “??Keishiro Owl” by the Time Passed Me By (Kyonomori Remix), It is up to!

    Indeed! I am not sure if I am ready for a world where chip and vocaloid intermingle so shamelessly (that slut!). Decide for yoruself on the new VORC RECORDS Myspacepageface.

  • GM4A Interviews II Netlabel

    Missed this from earlier in the week, but GM4A has interviewed the II Netlabel. Some choice excerpts:

    When you started your label, what were your initial goals and ideas for what you wanted out of your site?

    R: We initially wanted Pause to be a team of musicians who exclusively released all of their music on Pause, essentially to use the site as a homepage on the web. It was going to be the place for this small group of artists to have all their music either available or linked to, blogs, and all sorts of information that people might care about. Ultimately we decided to go for a broader variety of releases and pass on the team idea, at least for the time being.

    E: The idea was that we’d get more exposure if we made one website instead of as individuals. As Pause grows we get new ideas and set new goals. I guess now one of the main goals would be to find ways to generate some income, so we can treat our fans to more merchandise, gigs and what not. But for the time being, Pause is still just on the hobby level.

  • EtherNES Might Appear

    bOOdaw writes:

    EtherNES is a NES networking project that Wookie is currently designing the schematics and working with the NESdev community to connect your NES to your LAN.  Fortunately a solution has been found for the difficult male expansion connector at the bottom of the NES.  A female connector has been found to work from the company Sullins Connectors (more information within the thread).

    Some of the current development application ideas for EtherNES once completed:

    * An NES BBS
    * An MMORPG
    * Synching NESes together for audio playback
    * Launching remote code
    * A MIDINES alternative
    * A text-based web browser…
    * Etc…

    Serial Communication + Powerpak might be a great dev enviroment, think compiling your song and sending it directly to hardware! Or the midi alternative would be cool as well, Will keep an eye on things.
