I was hoping for a website, but this will have to do:

    v1.01 23.06.11

+ MIDI support is improved, now the editor works with MIDI USB keyboards
    * Wrong file extension has been added to the instrument name on the instrument save
    * *.vge instruments were not displayed in the open instrument dialog
    * Changing instrument number through MIDI marked all the selected instruments
    * PSG mute has not been initialized at start up, probably the reason why PSG sound was absent sometimes
    * Group loading for samples has not worked properly
    * Right mouse button has not worked properly for PSG instruments when used with on-screen keyboard
    * VGM output is optimized, now files are smaller and works better with VGM players for actual Genesis/Mega Drive consoles
    * FM polyphony in the instrument editor is increased to six channels
    – DLL dependency with MSVC 2008 Redistributable is removed

  • Chipslapper for Reaktor Appeared

Sure, the world probably doesn’t need another simplistic, single-osc Reaktor synth, but I made this specifically to mimic the behaviour of so-called ‘chipsamples’ in ProTracker, FastTracker2 and similar trackers.

Traditionally, since the late ’80s, tracked chipmusic has been created by looping short (~32byte) samples which the tracker automatically uses as pitched instruments. Effects are applied using hex commands and more advanced trackers had extended instrument options which emulated the behaviour of basic synths.

Anyway, purely for my own work, I wanted to have a straightforward, cross-platform means of composing using my old tracker styles/technique in newer DAWs like Ableton Live. If it’s useful to any other afficionados, great – but most people will just find it to be a very dull synth that looks like a Reaktor beginner’s project.

  • Realmyop & Furtekk – Vjenesis

This video recorded in Rome at a Vj’ing tournament shows Vj Realmyop’s new toys; Already know for the Megaglitch (a circuit bent sega megadrive), he is currently working with furtekk on the development of a Vj software for the Megadrive/Genesis called Vjenesis.

My friend Delek, who’s a very busy bee, has a fascination for FM synthesis, and he has created a tracker  for a rather obscure chip from Yamaha, the SMAF YMU759.

I been testing this for a while and the latest versions have improved a lot, and for those who love FM, this is an interesting chip to develop, specially since it can be found inside a bunch of cheap ass cellphones from yesterday and you can easily play back the tunes on real hardware.

At last some serious activity in argentine chipmusic! Please check out Delek’s Youtube Channel for some of his tunes, mostly for the NES’s 2A03.
