Hemlock Records has released their First Compilation EP “Fade to Fall”.  The label, featuring some of the guys behind 2 player productions has undertaken an ambitious concept “offer(ing) six unique interpretations of the transition from Summer to Fall”.

The tracks mostly from artists in the NYC area definitely evoke similar themes and styles, and standout tracks include Starscream’s emochip rock, A.R.Y.’s pitch bending madness, and Go Motions crisp post chiptune rock. A good example of the New Blip City style, and a promising tease for releases to come.

  • Binary Alchemy by Northern Dragons

Starpause sent us the link to the Northern Dragons demo that received 5yh place at NVScene 2008

The hand drawn style and lofi synthesis give the track a nice ambience. Will need to check out the other entries to see what made them place higher!

And they get a nice write up on a college news website.

The heart of Rock and Roll
The heart of Rock and Roll

The article itself is mostly a collection of their press clippings, but isn’t it refreshing to see something about chip artists that don’t obsess over the console part of their sound, or makes the (musical style) meets (retro game character at (name of relevant musical event) formulaic pun.

  • CCS64 Now Supports the Hardsid4u

    Floppies? No stinkin' floppies.

According to the Hardsid Yahoogroup, the C64 Emulator CCS64 now supports the Hardsid4u.

” I”ve not been reading the list for a while, just noticed my email
address is bouncing. I don’t think this was mentioned yet though:

I just noticed the new CCS64 emulator has support for hardsid4u! The
v3.6 version has been out since August.
